Responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders, technical descriptions, and safety manuals including NFPA 70E, NEC, and ANSI.
- Read blueprints, various types of schematics, and loop drawings and prepare and enter job reports into the computer system.
- Troubleshoot and loop-check PLCs, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using proper test equipment to repair or replace faulty components, such as sensors, relays, switches, motors, modules, or fixtures.
- Assemble and disassemble all types of electronic process controls, pneumatic controls, and hydraulic systems and components.
- Layout, fabricate and install instrument, electrical, and PLC components and cabinets.
- Calibrate equipment using OEM calibration procedures.
- Inspect and maintain switchgear, PLCs, transformers, bus bars, circuit breakers, and wiring connections in power distribution sub-stations.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using voltmeters, ohmmeters, meggers, etc.
- Work with the principles and chemistry and physics required in instrumentation such as specific gravity, density of liquids and solids, mechanical advantages, proportions of liquids, melting points, freezing points, boiling points of liquids, etc.
- Apply the procedures for measuring pressure level, flow, temperature, weight, density, heat flux, humidity moisture, etc. when working with control loops
- Assist in accomplishing plant maintenance work.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by supervision.
