Responsibilities
- Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety
- Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met
- Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop, and educate key metrics
- Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes
- Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions
- Managing conflicts
- Supervising Weekend Maintenance and Cleanup personnel
- Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, and Pneumatic Systems)
- Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, Field Level Hazard & Risk Assessments (FLHRA), Safety Audits)
- Training/mentoring apprentices
- Creating and planning improvement projects
- Managing parts with our purchaser
- Scheduling and attendance
- Inspecting completed work
- Safety/environmental compliance
- Interpersonal skills
- Maintenance/departmental cost
- Employee training and development
- Production, grade recovery and downtime
- Maintenance & appearance of production/plant equipment
- Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright
- Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
