This role plays a critical part in maintaining and enhancing their database infrastructure to support the bank's operations efficiently and securely. The position will be responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance and production monitoring of database instances and associated software tools. The individual will also provide aid and consultation to other infrastructure staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deploy, upgrade, migrate, and troubleshoot DB2/MySQL/MariaDB database systems
- Ensure proper configuration and tuning of database systems
- Ensure successful backup and disaster recovery processes for database systems
- Perform restores as needed
- Configure automated database deployment
- Interface with the development team to aid in design and development tasks
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years' administering IBM DB2 on Unix/Linux operating systems
- 3+ years' administering MySQL/MariaDB on Unix/Linux operating systems
- 3+ years experience in Linux administration
- Experience with IBM AIX and PowerVM
- Mainframe / Open VMS background
- Experience migrating from DB2 to MySQL/MariaDB
- Fluent in SQL and DB2 programming languages
- Proficient in database design and development
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization
- Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet Enterprise
- Experience in Enterprise storage, FC and NAS
- Experience with Rocket Software UniVerse or UniData
- Experience with CI/CD using Jenkins, Gitlab, or Flyway
