job summary: Job Description : Reporting to the Program Director, the Communications Specialist provides strategic and operational leadership in proposing, developing, and advancing communications in order to amplify the reach and impact of its mission to advance the public understanding of religion. Working closely with stakeholdesr and client Communications sta?, faculty, fellows, and others, the Communications specialist leads a range of projects related to branding, storytelling, website content and design, special events planning, publicity and marketing, and other collateral. location: CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts job type: Permanent salary: $60,000 - 68,000 per year work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: The Communications Specialist also leads on development of an overall communication strategy for the program, including developing content guidelines and best practices, and proposing methods for assessing progress and e?ectiveness. News, Website, Storytelling: Lead robust storytelling and news strategy. Maintain vibrant, dynamic RPL website presence through regular updates and new content. Create and maintain a cohesive brand presence. Create and edit video and conduct interviews with speakers, students, faculty and others. Create templates and assist with design of materials and other collateral. Events, Publicity and Marketing: Coordinate and help implement public engagement for major events, including webinars, symposia and professional training. Develop, publish and disseminate regular events announcements, newsletter, and annual report. Maintain RPL public events calendars. Build and maintain RPL photo bank. Work collaboratively with Admissions and Communications to promote the one-year Master of Religion and Public Life. Communications Strategy: Work closely with Leadership Team and client Communications in strengthening overall strategy for expanding RPL's public reach and pro?le. Partner with client Communications to ensure maximum integration of RPL communications strategy within wider client. Communications strategies. Develop approaches for assessing the e?ectiveness of RLP communications/engagement strategies. Other: Coordinate communications for stakeholder within client, and with other professional schools. Manage interns, temporary employees and others in support of communications functions. Provide regular reporting on RPL communications. Basic Qualifications: Three plus years professional experience in communications (journalism, web content development, audio-visual production or social media) for non-profits, educational institutions or related fields. Basic knowledge of HTML, Drupal-based and WordPress CMS systems, and other web-based collaboration tools. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree. Proven expertise in digital platforms and selection of appropriate communications channels. Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies and leveraging analytics toward project goals. Demonstrated ability to prepare and publish materials and digital media for diverse audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with impeccable attention to detail. High degree of initiative, motivation, and self-direction.
