job summary: Very reputable and well established manufacturer is looking for a Application Product Engineer in the Milwaukee area. This role comes with a very competitive compensation package commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $60k to $95k. Relocation assistance is also available. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin job type: Permanent salary: $60,000 - 95,000 per year work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Provide technical support to engineering, sales, and product management on new and existing products.Test, troubleshoot and resolve customer problems with company products, either over the phone or on site.Act as a technical resource between the customer and engineering to address and resolve inquiries and technical applications to ensure customer requirements.Act as a technical resource to customers, service, sales/applications, engineering, development and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems, and ensure successful product and system start-ups.Respond to internal and external customer requests for technical information regarding company products and their applications.Travel to customers' sites to oversee start-ups and check out of new product installations, to include adjustment/set up/field repair of power electronic systems, drives and control devices, checking out the wiring and supervisory control interface, etc.Identify cost reduction opportunities in both materials, processes, and recommend course of action.Coordinate with sales and product management to understand market requests and translate those requests into product specifications to be presented to the design function.Develop internal design specifications to meet customer requirements.Assist in the development of new products and the improvement of existing products, including component selection and bill of material creation/maintenance.Participate as a member of the product launch team on new related products. Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding production test requirements, BOM structure, etc.Ensure the technical accuracy of marketing materials and develop technical manuals for new and existing products, as required.Ensure the completion of all sales/marketing materials and technical documentation that support the product, such as product pricing, technical writing, coordinating with worldwide resources for commonality or language translations, or working with subcontractors for design, photography and printing expertise.Evaluate and process engineering changes. Notify and coordinate changes with various affected departments and outside vendors.Manage and update engineering data in ERP system.Develop and maintain engineering documentation standards.Act as a technical resource to Manufacturing and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding assigned products.Ensure the long-term maintenance, product improvement and cost reductions of assigned products.Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.Perform competitive analysis between company products and competitor products to provide "sell against" features and benefits to the sales organization. May require purchase of competitor products and hands-on evaluation, or travel to trade shows or seminars to gather information.Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs. Additional responsibilities could include: Working with CSA or UL for agency approval.Designing of new circuit PCB's and participating in component selection and substation.Designing panel layouts, fabricated part, and changes to standard parts using AutoCAD.Assisting manufacturing with bringing pilot designs into production. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.Complete special projects as assigned.Support the training department as required in the development of materials for external training.Optionally participate actively in approved industry organizations and committees.Other duties as assignedMay develop project quotations as needed. Develop and implement Configure to Order (CTO) modules for use by sales and applications groups. May source vendors when required. Provide component support, assisting in the selection and replacement of components that are not meeting quality standards. Provide product support to customers, the field sales force, and other departments as needed.
