A Lead Mechanical Engineer is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Everett, WA area. This job oversees the engineering team's design and execution, communicates project scope and objectives, and ensures timely and budget-compliant delivery of technical and program requirements for commercial aircraft interiors.

responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design for an integration project (Payloads - Interiors).
- Serve as the primary technical interface with internal stakeholders.
- Create installation drawings in NX (Stowage, Seat Furniture, Monuments like Lavatories, Galley's, Closets, Partitions, secondary structures, etc.).
- Work with the Project Engineer to establish and maintain the detailed engineering schedule.
- Lead a small team of engineers to execute the design and create drawings for the assigned product.
- Clearly communicate the program statement of work to the design team.
- Ensure the completion of the design engineering work packages to meet customer and regulatory requirements, as well as schedule and budget.
- Identify scope changes and project risks to the Project Engineer.
- Support the Project Engineer in preparing for and participating in milestone and/or technical meetings with customers.
- Work closely with IPT (project engineer, procurement, operations, etc.) to achieve program success.
- Provide project status reports to the Project Engineer and/or engineering management.
- University Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Relevant 3D solid modeling and drafting experience (NX preferred; Catia, Solidworks, or other systems acceptable).
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings, including a good understanding of GD&T and perform tolerance stack-ups.
- Experience with commercial aircraft monuments or other interior product installations.
- Minimum of 2 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of CAD (or similar) design experience.
- Aerospace industry experience.
- Experience in leading designers on a project.
- Scheduling using Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with CAD (NX) and PLM Systems (Teamcenter).
- Experience supporting commercial aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus.
- Direct experience with commercial aircraft interiors and/or system design.
