Director of Finance & Accounting
This role will oversee all areas of the accounting, financial, and budgeting functions of the organization. This includes managing the in-house accounting/finance team (accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll) as well as any external accounting support to ensure accuracy, timeliness, compliance and effective internal controls necessary to safe guard the assets of the org and provide transparent financial reporting. The director will also be responsible real property resources, insurances and contract management. This role will require a combination of hands-on management and oversight, performance of day to day tasks, with the opportunity to delegate tasks to the appropriate staff.

responsibilities:
Accounting, Financial Management & Reporting
- Supervise and manage the day to day activities of the accounting team to include general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and related functions.
- Manage the monthly and year-end financial close process and timeline, including final review and posting of necessary journal entries in accordance with GAAP and church financial structure.
- Oversee the maintenance of fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls.
- Lead and assist the annual budgeting process in collaboration with varied areas of leadership.
- Provide regular budget-to-actual analysis and forecasting reports to directors and appropriate staff, finance committee and others managing partners of the organization's budget.
- Support financial planning to align with the goals and growth strategies.
- Monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Oversee banking relationships, cash management, investments, and financing strategies.
- Manage balance sheet ensuring all accounts are reconciled, analyzed and accurately maintained.
- Coordinate and lead annual audit process with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations.
- Maintain and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Serve as a financial advisor to the executive team, offering insights on financial implications.
- Analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic planning and long-term sustainability efforts.
- Recommend system implementations and upgrades related to finance and accounting.
- Coordinate with LLC and Building Management on budget and expenses.
- Supervise and develop finance and accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Coordinates with staff to regularly plan, monitor, adjust, and report on projects, activities, and results.
- Manage the Operations budget to maximize resources.
- Provides ongoing informal and formal feedback on professional performance and development to each team member.

- Pursue own growth in leadership qualities and apply best practices.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA is a plus).
- 5+ years of progressive responsible accounting and financial leadership experience.
- Experience working with comparable sized corporation or non-profit.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to explain financial matters to financial and non-financial leaders.
- Highly organized and detailed-oriented.
- Proven experience supervising and developing accounting/finance staff.
- Demonstrated success in team development, performance, delegation, and managing up/down within an organization.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams with integrity and accountability.
