The primary purpose of this role is to develop and execute an early publications strategy based on data driven scientific themes and the ancillary tactical plan that will ensure comprehensive dissemination of the preclinical and clinical data to medical, scientific professionals and patients involved in the development, utilization, and incorporation of the product in the global research and commercialization settings. This position leads to the cross-functional development of the publications strategies/scientific themes and execution of the tactical publications plans to contribute to the successful development of cardiovascular and oncology early assets.

responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the early strategic publications plans as well as the execution of the tactical publications plans for cardiovascular and oncology pipeline, to ensure integration and alignment with the communications and R&D and medical strategy, and the timely presentation of data at key congresses and rapid journal publication
- Review and interpret product data from preclinical, clinical development, real world evidence, statistics and health economics departments within Company and external investigators to determine appropriate publications for inclusion in tactical publications plans
- Manage, review and edit congress abstract and oral and poster presentations, primary and secondary manuscripts, and slide presentations development by vendors and external investigators to ensure publications are high quality and adheres to Good Publication Practice and Company Publication Policy and SOP
- Represent the Publications team in R&D team, Global Medical and Evidence Team, Global Development Team, and Global Commercialization Team, presenting the Strategic and Tactical Publications initiatives for the respective compounds(s); and chair the cross-functional research compound specific Publications Team meetings
- Participate in the planning, development and implementation of global workshops, advisory boards and other stand-alone scientific programs that generate information to guide ongoing communications efforts to the global medical and scientific community
- Actively participate in medical congresses and events as part of the medical team when required
- Establish professional relationships with all external and internal stakeholders including global clinical investigators, opinion leaders, and consultants in the respective therapeutic areas
- Plan and manage timelines, budget and manpower against the global communication plans and approved resources
- Ensure that all vendors comply with Company operational guidelines regarding master services agreements, accounting practices, communications with physicians and documentation of service agreements
- Follow all Good Publication Practice (GPP) and related Company SOPs during development and execution of publications strategy and plan. Educate and enforce GPP and SOPs among cross functional teams involved in publications (internal departments, external authors and communications agencies) and ensure that all publications are reviewed and documented through the Company publication management platform
qualifications:
Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees of PhD, MD, PharmD or MS in a scientific/medical discipline or equivalent
- At least 5 years Scientific Publications experience which must include pharmaceutical/biotech experience
- Disease and therapeutic knowledge in oncology is preferred, or the proven ability to quickly learn a new scientific discipline and apply knowledge in interpreting data and developing publications
- Proven ability to interpret scientific and clinical trial data and derive scientific themes from the findings and effectively communicate these findings in multiple publication formats and to diverse scientific and medical audiences
- Proven ability to think strategically and work cross functionally to develop strategies that enhance the value of the publications through effective communication of the scientific and clinical data working with Global research and development, and through integrated communications themes working with Global Departments in health economics, market research, commercial, and market access
- Knowledge of the drug development process and its application to the strategic publication planning process
- Knowledge of Global roles within the pharmaceutical industry, and the ability to work effectively in a Global organization with key markets and with external partners
- Strong scientific writing and editing skills and knowledge of journal requirements and Congress guidelines for publications development and submission
- Thorough knowledge of Good Publication Practices, and proven ability to work effectively within these guidelines to ensure that all authors and vendors comply
- Proven ability to work effectively on international cross-functional teams, building effective working relationships and gaining consensus on publications initiatives
- Strong written and oral communications skills ad high degree of fluency in written and verbal English
- A strong digital mindset
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (international and domestic), including weekends
