The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for performing and reporting highly complex patient testing in accordance with laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines. This role requires meticulous adherence to quality control standards, patient confidentiality, and all applicable safety regulations, including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of the laboratory testing process from specimen handling through result reporting.

responsibilities:
- Analyze patient specimens using approved testing procedures and review/release results.
- Follow established laboratory policies for specimen handling, processing, testing, and record maintenance, ensuring proficiency testing is treated identically to patient specimens.
- Perform and document all quality control (QC) activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance.
- Identify, correct, and document problems affecting test performance or results, immediately notifying a senior technologist or supervisor when necessary.
- Ensure timely reporting of STAT or Critical results and maintain complete testing records.
- Attend all required departmental meetings and safety/training sessions.
- Answer customer or lab personnel questions, and maintain general department appearance and reagent inventory.
qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Medical Technology is preferred; B.S./B.A. in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, is also acceptable.
- Experience: At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing is preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for national certification (MT/MLT from ASCP or **AMT}$) and have required state licensure.
- Knowledge/Skills: Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing, QC/QA principles, and strong computer skills are essential. Must be able to establish work priorities, handle multiple procedures simultaneously, and demonstrate good customer service skills.
- Special Requirements: Must pass a 10-panel drug screen, full physical/medical check, and required vaccinations (including COVID and Flu shots).
