Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Regional Strategy & Implementation: Serve as the primary supervisor for Regional Laboratory Hospital Services, collaborating with the national PLS team and regional leadership to design, implement, and manage complex hospital laboratory arrangements.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the key operations contact for hospital clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, managing service level expectations, and coordinating responses from regional scientific directors and management.
- Operational Oversight & Performance: Direct all client contract launches and ongoing operations, ensuring timely execution and adherence to all contractual terms, including quality, productivity, equipment, and process flow.
- Staff and Team Leadership: Directly manage and provide leadership for Quest Diagnostics supervisors and staff at client locations, evaluating overall team performance, and directing internal and external staff resources during project execution.
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Drive the creation, documentation, and standardization of newly created laboratory processes, leveraging Lean Six Sigma principles and change management methodologies.
- Financial & Budget Management: Collaborate with the Laboratory Director to establish and maintain the laboratory budget, manage labor productivity, oversee cost-per-test metrics, and handle capital equipment requests and invoicing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface with internal partners (procurement, logistics, sales) and external hospital management to manage supply chain efficiency, resolve testing performance issues, and identify opportunities for deeper Lab Management services.

Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in the clinical laboratory industry.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Licensure: Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license (if required by the state, e.g., California).
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead or manage through supervisory or area lead responsibilities, with strong client interaction and presentation skills.
- Technical Acumen: Considerable knowledge of general laboratory services, testing requirements, and proficiency with key PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Core Competencies: Proven experience in project management, change management, and a strong understanding of data analytics.
- Prior managerial experience within a hospital laboratory setting.
- Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business, or Life Science).
- Completed coursework or certification in Project Management or Lean Six Sigma/continuous improvement methodologies.
- Prior experience with laboratory consolidation projects.
