Summary
Join our innovative Food and Beverage Science laboratory as a Research Associate and become a key contributor to the development of our next generation of products. This hands-on, on-site role is perfect for a detail-oriented, curious individual who thrives in a lab environment. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end process of sample preparation, serving, and data capture, ensuring the integrity and quality of critical research and development tastings. Key Responsibilities
- Sample Preparation and Execution: Accurately prepare and serve food and beverage samples following precise brewing, preparation, or formulation instructions for R&D and cross-functional sensory evaluation meetings.
- Process Management: Ensure the entire sampling process runs flawlessly, including organizing appropriate serving vessels, glassware, and serveware, and providing clearly marked and organized sample sheets for participants.
- Data Handling and Entry: Precisely record sample preparation details and sensory data by performing timely and accurate data entry into existing Microsoft Excel and Word files.
- Protocol Adherence: Diligently follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample preparation, laboratory work, and information entry into existing laboratory information systems.
- Basic Instrumentation: Perform data measurement and collection using basic laboratory instrumentation relevant to the food and beverage field.
- Lab Communication: Utilize Microsoft Outlook for professional correspondence and scheduling related to sample logistics and tasting sessions.

Required Qualifications
- College Degree: A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree is required, ideally in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience working in a regulated laboratory setting, with experience in the food and beverage industry strongly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for data management and communication.
- Work Environment: Proven ability to work effectively in a dedicated laboratory setting and also perform computer-based data entry and administrative tasks.
- Core Competencies: Highly detail-oriented, exceptionally organized, and possessing strong communication skills to interact effectively with R&D and cross-functional teams.
- Mindset: A strong sense of curiosity, a willingness to learn, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to both take direction and suggest innovative process ideas.
- Direct experience in sample preparation or sensory testing within a food, beverage, or flavor laboratory.
- A specific interest in learning about processes such as coffee roasting, brewing, or other specialized beverage preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or similar quality/safety standards.
