This is an exciting contract role for an entry-level Microbiologist I in North Chicago, focused on ensuring product safety and quality through essential laboratory testing. This site operates with a focus on cutting-edge research and development in the life sciences sector. You will be instrumental in executing critical microbial and chemical testing procedures, contributing directly to the release of vital materials and products.
This position is a full-time commitment on a 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, M-F) basis and is fully onsite. It is an excellent opportunity to gain significant, hands-on experience and professional development in a leading-edge laboratory environment.

responsibilities:
- Collect environmental and utility samples for microbiological and chemical testing.
- Perform routine analytical and microbial test methods to support product and material release.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve analytical techniques and instrument issues.
- Interpret experimental data for conformance with product and material specifications.
- Initiate appropriate exception documents for non-conforming results.
- Maintain training certifications and actively contribute to broader team objectives.
- Manage personal time effectively to multi-task assignments under general supervision.
qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related science (Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.) from an accredited college or university.
- Experience or strong ability to perform analytical or microbial test methods.
- Ability to interpret experimental data.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting technical or instrumental performance issues.
- Ability to work fully onsite in the North Chicago, IL area.
- Prior experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and procedural requirements.
- Experience with environmental and utility sampling.
- Demonstrated ability to propose and implement experimental design for root cause analysis.
- Experience working in multiple laboratory functional areas.
