We are seeking a highly skilled Tooling Engineer to join our precision-driven team at a leading military defense manufacturer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of manufacturing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and special equipment used in the production of military-grade systems and components. This role ensures production efficiency, product quality, and strict compliance with defense manufacturing standards.

salary: $80,000 - $93,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Design & Development:
  
  
  • Design and engineer production tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and dies in accordance with military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD).
    
    
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to develop tools that optimize production processes.
    
    
  • Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) to model tooling solutions.
    
    
• Process Support:
  
  
  • Provide hands-on support to machining, assembly, and fabrication operations to resolve tooling-related issues.
    
    
  • Lead tooling improvement initiatives to reduce setup time, increase tool life, and enhance production throughput.
    
    
• Compliance & Documentation:
  
  
  • Ensure all tooling designs and modifications comply with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
    
    
  • Create and maintain documentation such as drawings, tooling specifications, and technical instructions.
    
    
• Procurement & Vendor Liaison:
  
  
  • Work with procurement to source tooling materials and components.
    
    
  • Manage relationships with external tooling suppliers and fabricators to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
