Responsibilities
• Establishes Purchasing policies and ensures compliance to internal and external
requirements by maintaining governance to corporate and local purchasing
procedures.
• Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best price and
service guarantee.
• Works with global purchasing to manage a large raw material supply chain.
• Considers cost reduction methods for purchased products.
• Develops new supply sources when current vendors are inadequate. Uses accepted
reporting methods (surveys, volume measures, supply performance) that display
the vendor performance.
• Establishes account/credit terms with suppliers. Evaluates the ability for a supplier
to meet NGK expectations.
• Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers including
Capital Expenditure Requests (CER). Ensures compliance with current Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP) and Policy compliance.
• Works closely with Shipping/Receiving department to ensure proper supplies
arrived.
• Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics including items of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Considers supply origins in order meet CSR
requirements.
• Maintains contracts and agreements for all purchasing activities.
