Responsibilities
- Coordinate Freight Movement: Plan and dispatch freight loads to drivers, ensuring timely pick-ups and deliveries.
- Driver Communication: Maintain continuous communication with drivers, providing updates on routes, changes, and any issues that may arise.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve logistical problems, such as delays, traffic issues, and vehicle breakdowns, in a fast-paced environment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately record all dispatch activities, including driver schedules, routes, and delivery status.
- Customer Service: Act as a point of contact for customers, providing them with real-time updates on their shipments and addressing any concerns.
- Compliance: Ensure all dispatch operations adhere to company policies, as well as state and federal regulations (e.g., hours of service, DOT compliance).
- Rate Negotiation: Work with carriers and brokers to negotiate competitive freight rates.
