Responsibilities
- Handle all purchasing functions, including supplier qualification, issuing purchase orders, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Manage material and inventory levels through forecasting and analysis.
- Establish and document a "Plan for Every Purchased Part" with a clear replenishment strategy.
- Track open purchase orders and part shortages, providing regular updates to shop associates.
- Manage the stockroom to ensure a safe, organized environment and a reduction of employee and part movement.
- Establish and maintain documented cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
- Analyze commodity and market trends to make insightful buying decisions and inform site leadership.
- Manage purchasing for all non-production spend.
- Create and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the purchasing department to drive improvements.
- Manage the disposal of scrap, obsolete, and/or surplus materials.
- Own the creation and maintenance of all Item and Supplier Master data in QuickBooks.
- A 4-year degree in business or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing function.
- APICS (ASCM) or similar industry certification preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in basic ERP/buying software, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience and willingness to work in a very "hands-on" shop environment.
- Ability to lift boxes weighing 50 pounds to a height of 4 feet.
