Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper (Contract)

Position Overview
We are a mission-driven non-profit organization seeking an experienced and meticulous Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day accounting and financial records. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who values confidentiality, accuracy, and possesses excellent organizational skills.
This is a part-time contract position for approximately 3 months, offering a flexible hybrid schedule of 5-10 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to support a meaningful cause while maintaining a flexible work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Maintain the checking account, ensuring minimum balances are met, and accurately record deposits and wire transfers.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for the checking account and all credit card transactions.
- Reconcile the balance sheet with monthly Treasurer reports to ensure accuracy.
- Develop and distribute monthly, year-to-date (YTD), and annual financial statements and budget reports.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and a five-year financial forecast.
- Maintain an accurate general ledger, including proper tax line-mapping designations.
- Coordinate with our Tax Department to ensure a smooth annual tax filing process.
- Participate in and provide necessary documentation for our annual independent audit.
- Provide daily off-site remote support to monitor and respond to financial requests from staff.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in a bookkeeper role is required.
- Expert proficiency in QuickBooks is mandatory.
- strong understanding of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with the utmost confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Experience with non-profit accounting is highly preferred.
