A leading construction firm in the Boston area is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join its finance team.
This role offers a dynamic blend of general ledger and project-specific accounting. You will manage key month-end close activities while overseeing the financial lifecycle of complex construction projects. Responsibilities include preparing detailed work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, managing job cost reports, ensuring accurate percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition, and collaborating with project managers to resolve billing discrepancies.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on construction or job cost accounting. Proficiency with an ERP system required.

Responsibilities
- Manage key components of the full-cycle accounting process, including the preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and all month-end close activities.
- Prepare and analyze detailed work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and job cost reports to assess and ensure project profitability.
- Reconcile all project-related costs to the general ledger, partnering with construction managers to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
- Guarantee the accurate and timely application of percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee the processing of subcontractor and vendor invoices, verifying accurate job coding and ensuring strict compliance with contract terms.
- Maintain the company's fixed asset schedule and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors during year-end reviews.
- Uphold financial integrity by ensuring adherence to GAAP standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Contribute to various ad-hoc financial projects and analyses as required by management
