Join a Fortune 500 leader in Columbus, OH, as a Procurement Specialist. This W2 contract-to-hire role, paying $54.23 an hour with full benefits, runs through at least May 2026 with potential for extension.
This is a high-impact position for a seasoned professional to lead major, complex sourcing events and serve as a subject matter expert. You will work autonomously to write and modify contracts, providing strategic advice to business units and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead major, high-dollar sourcing events and act as a subject matter expert.
- Write and modify complex contracts, including details on pricing, performance, and risk mitigations.
- Provide advisory support for contract development and negotiations to category managers and procurement professionals.
- Apply various pricing and cost containment models during contract development.
- Support the refinement of sourcing strategies for complex spend.
- Collaborate with internal partners on projects to address recurring issues and improve efficiency.
- Direct the work activities of other procurement professionals.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, supply chain, or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in contract management, paralegal work, or supply chain.
- Preferred: Experience in the utility, manufacturing, or construction industry is preferred, with a focus on writing complex contracts for Construction, Electrical, and Major Equipment.

Responsibilities
Works autonomously in leading major, high-dollar, complex sourcing, or contract development events. Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned categories of large or complex spend, custom requirements, or that support emerging or evolving programs or needs across or within the business units. Serves as a consultant to Category Managers, business units and Procurement Professionals in assigned categories on sourcing or contract development and formation. Writes the business deal and works with representatives of AEP legal, risk, safety, and other areas to secure AEP business interests. Possesses the skills to direct the work activities of the Procurement Professional or the Procurement Analyst. Individual shall have the skills to effectively engage business unit leadership and Supply Chain Procurement and Fleet Operations (SCPFO) leadership to accomplish procurement goals.
