Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Charge Entry and Coding: Accurately enter charges and apply appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for all services rendered.
- Claims Submission: Generate and submit clean claims to insurance companies (commercial, government, and worker's compensation) in a timely and efficient manner.
- Payment Posting: Post payments and adjustments accurately from electronic remittances (ERAs) and manual Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Accounts Receivable Management: Proactively follow up on unpaid and denied claims, appealing as necessary to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Patient Billing: Prepare and send patient statements, and respond to patient billing inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services being rendered.
- Compliance: Stay up-to-date with all federal and state billing regulations, and ensure all billing practices are compliant.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
