We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Benefits & Leave Administrator for a 3–6 month contract role based on-site in Norfolk, VA. This role supports critical HR functions related to employee benefits, wellness programs, and leave administration.
About the Role In this position, you’ll play a key role in supporting health and welfare plans, coordinating employee leaves, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. You’ll also assist with employee communications, reporting, and benefit audits—helping ensure a smooth and positive experience for all employees.
What You’ll Bring
- Solid understanding of benefit programs, laws, and compliance (FMLA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.).
- strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with HRIS systems.
- A service-oriented mindset with attention to detail and confidentiality.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in benefits administration.
- Preferred certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, or CEBS.

Responsibilities
Health & Welfare Plan & Wellness Program Administration
- Support benefits administration (enrollment, deductions, billing, incentive programs).
- Deliver benefit presentations and assist with annual projects (e.g., Total Comp Statements, renewals).
- Generate reports from HRIS and vendor systems.
- Process weekly HSA reimbursements and Tuition Reimbursement applications.
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries and coordinate with carriers for resolution.
- Manage QDRO/QMSCO requests.
- Support employee communications (e.g., open enrollment, newsletters).
- Assist with 401(k) and Pension Plan administration as needed.
- Coordinate disability, family, and medical leave with HR, payroll, and third-party administrators.
- Communicate leave approvals and manage benefit premium payments for employees on leave.
- Monitor arrears deductions in HRIS.
- Ensure compliance with federal/state laws (FMLA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA).
- Assist with audits, IRS/DOL filings, and training on benefit policies and laws.
- Maintain accurate benefit records and stay current on legal/regulatory changes.
- Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
