Responsibilities
- Coordinate Shipments: Plan, schedule, and execute the movement of freight, selecting the most appropriate and cost-effective modes of transport (road, rail, air, or ocean).
- Carrier Relations: Liaise with and negotiate rates with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers to secure favorable terms and reliable service.
- Tracking and Monitoring: Track the status of shipments from origin to final destination, providing proactive updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Problem Resolution: Act quickly to resolve shipment issues, including delays, damages, returns (reverse logistics), and discrepancies, minimizing disruptions to the supply chain.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and manage inventory levels in the warehouse to prevent stockouts or overstocking; coordinate with the purchasing and production teams for timely replenishment.
- Order Processing: Oversee the order fulfillment process, ensuring customer orders are accurately processed, picked, packed, and shipped according to specifications.
- Compliance: Prepare, review, and maintain all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), commercial invoices, customs paperwork (for international freight), and proof of delivery (POD).
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, organized logs and records of all executed orders, shipping costs, inventory movements, and carrier performance.
