Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring all pleadings, discovery responses, and exhibits are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Assist attorneys in all phases of discovery, including drafting and preparing routine discovery requests (Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents, Requests for Admissions) and summarizing documents received from opposing counsel.
- Review and analyze documents, evidence, and records (such as medical, employment, and financial) to identify key facts and relevant information for the case strategy.
- Assist in drafting, finalizing, and filing legal documents, including complaints, answers, subpoenas, and motions, ensuring all necessary exhibits are included and deadlines are met.
- Prepare for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials by managing exhibit lists, preparing trial notebooks, coordinating logistics, and organizing and creating demonstrative evidence.
- Maintain contact with clients to gather information and documentation. Assist in interviewing witnesses and scheduling depositions.
- Conduct factual and basic legal research using databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis to support the attorney's arguments and motions.
