Responsibilities
- Coding Translation: Review documentation and accurately translate services and diagnoses into industry-standard codes: ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS.
- Submission: Enter charges and electronically submit clean claims to commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers using specialized billing software.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post payments from insurance companies and patients, ensuring proper reconciliation with service charges.
- Verification & Authorization: Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage. Obtain required pre-authorizations or referrals for procedures to ensure claims are paid.
- Denial Management: Systematically track, investigate, and correct all rejected or denied claims. Prepare and submit formal appeals to insurance carriers to recover lost revenue.
- Patient Invoicing: Generate and send patient statements for remaining balances.
- Account Resolution: Handle patient billing inquiries, clearly explaining charges. Manage delinquent accounts by establishing payment plans or coordinating collections.
