Position Overview: The Microbiology Technician is responsible for performing a variety of critical microbiological tests on products, bulks, and raw materials. Reporting directly to the Microbiology Supervisor, you will ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain the highest level of laboratory documentation and upkeep.
Hours/Pay: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, $22.00/hour This is a contract position.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in the physical sciences.
- An Associate's degree or 5 years of relevant work experience will be considered.
- Coursework in Biology and/or Microbiology is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Possess skilled, consistent, and reliable attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable communicating problems as they arise and working collaboratively with all departments.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize appropriately.
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Work Environment: Ability to work independently and thrive in a change-oriented, fast-paced environment.
The essential duties of this position require the employee to repeatedly sit, listen, speak, type, and move throughout the facility. The employee must be capable of using a keyboard for computer purposes. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
As our Microbiology Technician, you will be performing essential testing and maintaining lab operations:
Microbiological Testing:
- Conduct Aerobic Plate Counts on products, bulks, and raw materials.
- Perform Enrichment procedures and Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET).
- Execute Monthly Air Plate and Weekly Water Testing for environmental monitoring.
- Prepare all media necessary for testing procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of all test samples and maintain all laboratory records.
- Monitor and record equipment temperatures.
- Properly operate and maintain the autoclave.
- Assist with auditing proper cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
- Manage and maintain laboratory supplies.
- Conduct any other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
