Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting and administration of all benefit plans (union and non-union).
- Reconcile benefit payments to the general ledger; log and clear pending adjustments; communicate discrepancies to Accounting, Audit, and Management.
- Manage weekly vendor interfaces and ensure data accuracy in benefit and payroll files.
- Process COBRA payments and cost center allocations; audit vendor activity and ensure compliance with notice requirements.
- Lead or support benefit plan audits; coordinate data collection and meetings with Legal, Controller, and external auditors.
- Build and analyze ad hoc reports, census data, payroll deductions, and benefit accruals using Excel and HRIS tools.
- Partner with HR and Benefits to ensure system accuracy and compliance within HRIS platforms (SAP preferred).
- Support annual enrollment, mergers/acquisitions, and union implementations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting, analytical, and reporting experience focused on benefits administration (union & non-union).
- Hands-on experience with benefit plan reconciliations, contract/SPD review, and union invoice analysis.
- Proficiency with Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables; macros a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with SAP HRIS or similar systems preferred.
