Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a critical 8-week contract assignment focusing on our Accounts Payable (AP) function. This role is essential for maintaining efficient operations and ensuring the accuracy of vendor payments during a peak period. The ideal candidate will have accounting fundamentals, proven AP experience, and an expert command of Microsoft Excel, particularly pivot tables, which are a required skill for this role.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable Processing: Manage the end-to-end processing of approximately 150 invoices weekly, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the accounting system.
  
  
• 3-Way Match Verification: Execute and monitor the 3-way match process (Purchase Order, Receiving Report, and Vendor Invoice) for inventory and expense invoices to validate payment authorization and resolve any discrepancies.
  
  
• Data Analysis & Reporting (Pivot Tables): Utilize Microsoft Excel's pivot tables as a core tool to analyze AP data, generate detailed vendor spending reports, identify trends, reconcile discrepancies, and support month-end closing procedures.
  
  
• Procedure Documentation & Improvement: Review, update, and formally document existing Accounts Payable procedures to improve clarity, efficiency, and internal controls. This includes collaborating with team members to capture current best practices and suggest process improvements.
  
  
• Vendor Communication: Handle correspondence with vendors regarding payment status, invoice issues, and statement reconciliation.
  
  
• General Accounting Support: Assist the finance team with ad-hoc tasks, journal entries, and documentation preparation as needed.
