Role Summary: Randstad USA is seeking a highly experienced Director of Thermoforming & CNC Operations for a full-time, direct hire opportunity in Libertyville, IL. This executive-level role oversees product engineering, quality control, and maintenance functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on leadership experience in both heavy gauge thermoforming and CNC operations, and will be responsible for driving product development, process improvement, and strategic initiatives across the plant.
Qualifications & Skills Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in a senior-level engineering or operations leadership role
- strong background in heavy gauge thermoforming and CNC operations
- Experience leading cross-functional teams including maintenance and quality
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software, blueprint reading, and CNC programming
- Familiar with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S
- 10+ years in custom manufacturing environments
- Experience with automation integration and plant-wide efficiency initiatives
- Familiarity with regulatory standards in plastics and industrial manufacturing
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot, cold, or noisy environments
- Regularly required to walk, stand, crouch, bend, and climb
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision

Responsibilities
- Lead engineering, maintenance, and quality departments; provide mentorship, training, and performance oversight
- Collaborate with Operations to define and execute long-term manufacturing goals
- Drive new product development from concept through production
- Oversee CNC and thermoforming operations, recommending design or process improvements
- Implement lean manufacturing strategies to boost productivity and reduce waste
- Guide teams in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Develop and enforce SOPs and safety regulations (5S, OSHA, etc.)
- Lead capital projects and evaluate new technologies or equipment
- Monitor KPIs and production data; implement corrective actions as needed
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards
- Review mold performance, implement changes for efficiency and capacity gains
- Assist with CNC programming and floor-level process improvements
