Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in drafting and responding to discovery requests, including Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents, and Requests for Admissions.
- Prepare and file routine state and federal court documents, pleadings, motions, and supporting exhibits, ensuring strict adherence to court rules (e-filing proficiency required).
- Organize, review, and manage large volumes of case documents (both physical and electronic) using document management and e-discovery platforms.
- Assist in preparing for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and administrative hearings (e.g., EEOC, Department of Labor, State Boards of Education, IDEA due process hearings).
- Conduct thorough legal and factual research on complex issues using databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) related to employment and education law.
- Research issues under Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and state/local wage and hour regulations.
- Research issues under IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, Title IX, and state public school law and special education compliance.
- Draft internal legal memoranda, case summaries, chronologies, and reports outlining research findings for attorney review.
- Draft routine and sensitive legal correspondence and communications.
- Manage and track all critical litigation and administrative deadlines, including court filing deadlines, statute of limitations, and hearing dates.
