- Payroll Processing & Management: Oversee end-to-end payroll for thousands of employees (multi-state as applicable), including time/attendance tracking, gross-to-net calculations, garnishments, deductions, and off-cycle payments. Ensure 100% accuracy and on-time delivery using our software systems.
- Tax Compliance: Manage federal, state, local, and international tax withholding, reporting, and remittances (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, quarterly/annual filings). Stay ahead of legislative changes via IRS Circular E, state tax bulletins, and other tools.
- Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k)/pension plans, FSA/HSA, life/disability insurance, and COBRA. Handle enrollments, reconciliations, vendor payments, and open enrollment support.
- HR Integration: Collaborate with HR on employee lifecycle events (hires, terminations, LOAs, promotions). Maintain data integrity between payroll/HRIS systems, support audits, and generate reports for compensation analysis, DEI metrics, or labor cost forecasting.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to FLSA, FMLA, ERISA, ACA, SOX, and GDPR/CCPA (as applicable). Lead internal/external audits, resolve discrepancies, and implement controls to mitigate risks.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field a plus. CPP, FPC, SHRM-CP, or equivalent a plus.
- Experience: 7+ years in payroll, with 3+ years in a senior/lead role. Proven expertise in multi-jurisdiction payroll (US + international preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Mastery of payroll software
- Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros); SQL or HRIS querying a plus.
- Deep knowledge of tax laws, benefits regulations, and HR compliance.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving, confidentiality, and communication. Ability to explain complex payroll/tax concepts to non-experts.
