- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in accounting, business administration, or a related field
- Five years of payroll experience with multi-state, public company environment and sales environment
- Professional payroll certification preferred (CPP, FPC, CPS)
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Established proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality across various topics
- Knowledge of general accounting and financial reporting principles
- Federal and State laws and regulation governing employee pay

Responsibilities
- Serve as the organizational SME for FLSA and regulatory compliance, interpreting federal, state, and local laws to ensure all pay practices and work schedules remain compliant
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations, maintaining total accountability for the accuracy and timeliness of domestic payroll cycles
- Architect and optimize payroll workflows, including the automated calculation of complex sales commissions, tiered pay rates, and retroactive adjustments
- Own the integrity of the payroll database, performing deep-dive audits of personnel records, wage changes, and system configurations to ensure data precision
- Manage the full lifecycle of payroll deductions, overseeing the complex administration of 401(k) plans, multi-state tax filings, insurance premiums, and garnishments
- Resolve high-level payroll escalations, providing direct, expert-level guidance to employees and leadership on intricate pay and policy inquiries
- Proactively identify and mitigate system risks, implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability within the HRIS/Payroll environment
- Execute rigorous financial reconciliations, auditing payroll reports against general ledger requirements to ensure fiscal transparency and "audit-ready" documentation
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with HR, streamlining data flow for high-impact activities such as onboarding, annual merit cycles, and benefits open enrollment
