- Deep experience in standard costing, variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead), and activity-based costing within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage complex inventory valuations, including Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) or First-In, First-Out (FIFO) methods, and overseeing robust cycle counting programs.
- Expert knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and the ability to design and implement internal controls that prevent leakage in procurement and shipping.
- Proficiency in building "what-if" scenarios regarding raw material price volatility, freight cost fluctuations, and labor rate changes.
- Advanced proficiency in Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365) with a focus on the manufacturing and supply chain modules.
- Ability to audit and analyze "landed cost" models, including customs, duties, freight-in/out, and warehousing overhead
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or Master’s in Accountancy preferred.
- Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is typically required for this level of oversight.
- Industry Tenure: 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role specifically within manufacturing or heavy distribution.
- Regulatory Compliance: Experience handling multi-state nexus issues, sales and use tax in manufacturing, and international trade compliance (if applicable).
