- System Configuration: Maintain tax configuration settings, earnings codes, and deduction codes within the HRIS/Payroll system.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Lead testing for system updates and patches; investigate and resolve calculation errors or mapping problems.
- Nexus Collaboration: Partner with HR, Legal, and the Payroll Tax Director to validate nexus and implement new tax jurisdictions.
- Year-End Excellence: Assist with W-2 and W-2C processing, including balancing, error resolution, and year-end reporting.
- Records Maintenance: Manage SUI rates, locality taxes, and unemployment state records to ensure 100% data accuracy.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated payroll tax experience.
- Multi-State Mastery: Proven expertise in managing complex multi-state and local tax regulations.
- Technical Toolkit: Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office; Workday (HCM and Payroll) experience is highly preferred.
- Education: BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Analytical Mindset: Problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve tax disputes or mismatches with high accuracy.
- Interpersonal Skills: A team-player attitude with the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization, from entry-level staff to Directors.

Responsibilities
- Validate Multi-State Withholdings: Audit tax withholdings based on employee residence and work locations, ensuring accuracy for remote and multi-state workers.
- Expert Guidance: Advise on complex payments including bonuses, equity, relocation, and fringe benefits; educate employees on how tax setups (W-4, state/local forms) affect their take-home pay.
- Legislative Monitoring: Stay ahead of federal, state, and local changes to ensure payroll system requirements are updated in real-time.
- Audit Support: Act as the point of contact for internal and external audits, providing reconciliations and detailed tax documentation.
