Position Overview:
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the precision stamping industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool & Die Maker to join their team in Clifton, NJ. This role is essential for supporting the company's production by building, maintaining, and repairing the tools and dies used in progressive and secondary stamping presses. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a tool room environment and will collaborate closely with design engineers to ensure optimal performance and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of tools and dies for stamping presses.
- Set up and operate all standard tool room equipment, such as surface grinders, heat treat ovens, and polishing machines.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on parts to ensure they meet print criteria.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges to verify specifications.
- Ensure that all produced parts meet drawing specifications and pass internal quality inspections.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area at all times.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in tool and die fabrication, preferably within a metal stamping company.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and a knowledge of GD&T.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of precision measuring tools.
- Working knowledge of basic math and trigonometry.
- (Preferred) Knowledge of coining metals, deep draw, and transfer press techniques.
This position operates in a manufacturing shop environment. The role requires proximity to moving mechanical parts and the ability to work safely in conditions that may involve electrical current and high heat. This position requires the ability to frequently stand and walk , and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
salary: $65,000 - $100,000 per year
