Responsibilities
Core welder responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, preparing materials, and performing welding operations using techniques like MIG, TIG, or arc welding. Key duties also involve inspecting completed welds for quality, maintaining equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to understand project specifications.
- Material preparation: Prepare and clean metal surfaces by cutting, grinding, and aligning components as needed.
- Welding operations: Execute welding operations using various techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, arc) in different positions (flat, vertical, overhead) to join metal parts.
- Quality assurance: Inspect completed welds visually and physically to ensure they meet quality standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Equipment maintenance: Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
- Safety compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Collaboration: Work with team members and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Documentation: May include keeping records, such as inspection results or materials used.
