About the Role
As the Syrup Tech Lead, you will lead a production team and directly oversee the manufacturing of high-quality syrups, purées, and concentrated flavors. Your primary goal is to ensure all production adheres to stringent quality standards, including GMPs, SQF requirements, and FDA guidelines. You will be the go-to person for troubleshooting, quality control, and team mentorship.
This role requires 1-2 years of related experience and/or training and a commitment to detail, making it ideal for a motivated professional ready to step into a key leadership position.
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Manage: Prioritize the daily production schedule, provide team leadership, and act as a back-up to the Syrup Supervisor.
- Batching Expertise: Set up, operate, and monitor syrup production equipment, utilizing PLC and various batching systems. Accurately weigh and stage raw materials using metric units.
- Quality & Compliance: Perform Clean-in-Place (CIP) functions, lead equipment PMs and calibrations, and ensure all documentation and quality checks meet SQF standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and take corrective action to improve efficiency and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Qualifications & Offerings
- Experience: 1-2 years of related experience and/or training in a food manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Skills: strong math skills, mechanical aptitude, and ability to operate equipment like a forklift (or willing to be certified).
- Physical: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Production Management
- Manage, prioritize, and coordinate with the production team to efficiently execute the daily production schedule.
- Provide leadership and act as a back-up to the Syrup Supervisor when they are not available.
- Lead and participate in various equipment preventative maintenance (PMs), including sugar hydration, water polisher, and Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems.
- Lead and participate in scale and instrument calibrations.
- Develop and execute training that supports company objectives regarding quality and food safety.
Batching & Quality Assurance
- Set up, operate, and monitor syrup production equipment.
- Use PLC and various batching equipment to process syrups, understanding flow paths and automated sequences for transfer, processing, and pasteurization.
- Print material requisition sheets and use inventory systems to locate and weigh raw materials according to formulas, using the metric unit of measure.
- Confirm with R&D on first-time batch material requisition sheets for accuracy and version prior to staging and weighing raw ingredients.
- Perform CIP functions on various batching equipment and perform titrations on cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain accurate raw material locations and organization both physically and in the inventory management system; assist in cycle counting.
- Unload liquid sugar and dry sugar.
