Responsibilities
The Director of Food Safety will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, implementation, and oversight of all food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance programs across our operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, with a strong focus on USDA requirements (e.g., FSIS).
- System Management: Develop, implement, manage, and continuously improve our SQF system to maintain certification at the highest level.
- HACCP/FSMA: Oversee the development, review, validation, and maintenance of all HACCP and Preventive Controls (PCQI) plans.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor the Food Safety and Quality Assurance team, fostering a strong culture of food safety throughout the organization.
- Audits and Inspections: Act as the primary point of contact for all regulatory inspections (USDA, FDA) and third-party audits (SQF, customer).
- Crisis Management: Develop and manage food safety crisis and recall procedures, ensuring rapid and effective response.
