Responsibilities
Tooling Technician Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform full-cycle mold maintenance (disassembly, cleaning, repair, reassembly) for high-precision plastic injection molds and hot runner systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct tooling issues (e.g., flash, leaks, sticking) in-press or in the tool room to minimize production downtime.
- Execute precision repairs, modifications, and component fabrication using manual mill, lathe, surface grinder, and EDM equipment.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D models.
- Establish and execute robust Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules and procedures for all molds at the new facility.
- Assist Engineering during mold qualification, sampling, and initial production runs.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges) to ensure component conformance to specifications.
- Manage inventory of critical spare mold components and tooling supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tool room (5S).
- Maintain accurate electronic records of all maintenance, repairs, and modifications in the CMMS.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Participate actively in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to optimize tooling lifespan and performance.
- Communicate technical issues and status updates effectively to management and production staff.
