The Role As the Sanitation Manager, you will be the guardian of our facility’s hygiene. You will oversee a dedicated team across multiple shifts, ensuring that every square inch of our plant meets rigorous federal and international safety standards. You are not just managing a crew; you are managing the biological and chemical integrity of our brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Own and evolve the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to ensure 100% compliance.
- Audit Readiness: Lead the facility through GFSI audits (SQF/BRC), FDA/USDA inspections, and internal quality assessments with a "ready-at-all-times" mindset.
- Team Development: Mentor and train a staff of [Number] technicians. You will foster a culture of safety, focusing on chemical handling, PPE, and LOTO.
- Pathogen Control: Collaborate with QA to execute the Environmental Monitoring Program. You will investigate "out-of-spec" findings and implement immediate, effective corrective actions.
- Efficiency & Budgeting: Manage the sanitation budget, including labor, chemicals, and equipment. Partner with vendors to optimize chemical usage through precise titration and modern application methods.
- Sanitary Design: Act as a subject matter expert for the Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure new equipment is designed for easy teardown and effective cleaning.
- Experience: 5+ years in food manufacturing sanitation, with at least 3 years in a management or high-level supervisory role.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, and pest control management.
- Problem Solving: The ability to troubleshoot cleaning challenges (e.g., biofilm removal, allergen cross-contact) under tight production deadlines.
- Communication: A firm but fair leadership style with the ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
salary: $100,000 - $115,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM
education: High School
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for the entire facility.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the plant meets or exceeds FSMA, SQF, BRC, and USDA/FDA standards. You will be the primary point of contact during third-party audits.
- Team Management: Recruit, train, and supervise a multi-shift sanitation crew. This includes safety training for chemical handling and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Chemical & Inventory Control: Manage relationships with chemical suppliers to optimize titration levels and ensure cost-effective use of sanitizers and detergents.
- Microbiological Monitoring: Partner with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to manage the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP). You’ll analyze swab results to identify and eliminate "hot spots" for pathogens like Listeria or Salmonella.
- Continuous Improvement: Use data to reduce water and chemical waste while decreasing "changeover" time between product runs without sacrificing hygiene.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Maintenance and Production to ensure equipment is designed for "cleanability" (Sanitary Design) and to schedule cleaning windows that don't bottleneck production.
