Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform complex repairs, sharpening, and preventative maintenance on multi-station fineblanking and progressive dies to ensure maximum uptime.
- Precision Machining: Use manual mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate or modify components to exacting tolerances (±.0001).
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose tooling issues on the production floor and work with press operators to identify root causes of part defects.
- New Tool Build: Assist in the assembly and try-out of new tooling, ensuring all components meet engineering specifications.
- Quality Control: Use micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to verify workpiece accuracy.
- Experience: 3–5 years in tool and die making, specifically within precision metal stamping or fineblanking.
- Technical Skills: strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and metal flow mechanics.
- Blueprint Reading: Expert ability to interpret complex 2D/3D engineering drawings and CAD data.
