Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Repair: Construct, alter, and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to exacting specifications.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose die malfunctions on the press and perform necessary "in-press" repairs or bench overhauls.
- Machining: Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines to fabricate components with tolerances as tight as $\pm 0.0005$ inches.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex 2D blueprints and 3D CAD models to plan the sequence of operations.
- Heat Treating: Perform basic heat-treating processes on various tool steels to achieve required hardness.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineering to suggest design modifications that improve tool life and reduce scrap.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in tool and die making within a high-volume manufacturing environment. (Journey-level status preferred).
- Technical Mastery: Expertise in progressive dies, draw dies, or compound dies.
- Precision: Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, optical comparators).
- Problem Solving: A sharp analytical mind capable of identifying the root cause of a burr or a dimensional drift.
- Attendance: Reliability is key; our production schedule depends on your craftsmanship.
The essential functions of this role include:

- manual lifting up to 50lbs
- standing for 8 hours at one time
