The Supervisor, Fuel Handling is a leadership position responsible for managing the safe and compliant operation of a fuel handling department, including supervising union employees and coordinating all aspects of coal and waste handling, requiring a Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or technical field and 2-4 years of experience with industrial equipment and power plant operations, along with broad knowledge in leadership, safety, and union contract adherence.This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. Apply Now! location: Olive Township, Michigan job type: Contract salary: $35 - 45 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Plan, organize, coordinate, evaluate, and supervise the daily operations of the Fuel Handling Department, including a team of union employees. Provide coaching and leadership to team members.Oversee the safe and reliable handling of coal, including receiving and unloading rail cars, and supplying boilers with a steady stream of coal via a complex conveyor system.Supervise the team responsible for maintaining bottom ash ponds, fly ash silos, and ash landfill, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and environmental standards.Ensure adherence to corporate safety manuals, procedures, MIOSHA, and OSHA standards. Oversee worker personal protection, address safety concerns, manage fuel path housekeeping for combustible dust standards, and lead/participate in various safety teams and meetings.Understand and apply lean methods for problem-solving and waste elimination. Identify and execute automation projects for cost savings.Manage the departmental budget, understand company metrics, approve time sheets, schedule training, and manage various administrative tasks.Manage work plans, execute monthly maintenance schedules, and coordinate with rail services for coal deliveries and on-site train car repair facilities.Directly supervise union employees, administer the union contract, and oversee grievance procedures and investigations.
