job summary: A Project Buyer is needed for a company that transports, distributes and generates energy, with diversified assets that include a balance between crude oil and natural gas in the Houston, TX (hybrid) area. This role will lead the end-to-end procurement of high-value equipment and services, focusing on strategic sourcing, complex contract negotiation, and supply chain risk management. location: Houston, Texas job type: Contract salary: $44 - 50 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of procurement for large-scale capital expansion projects, from competitive bidding to purchase order issuance.Source complex, high-value, and long-lead-time equipment and service contracts.Evaluate market capacity and secure early commitments to meet project in-service dates.Collaborate with SCM business partners and category managers to develop sourcing strategies.Lead the RFx process, including proposal solicitation, bid evaluation, and technical/commercial clarifications.Negotiate and execute complex commercial contracts while managing deviations from standard terms.Plan, report, and forecast SCM activities and project deliverables.Develop and implement risk mitigation plans for the procurement lifecycle.Coordinate with Legal, Quality, and Governance departments to ensure enterprise compliance. Skills: Demonstrated experience purchasing complex equipment for large energy projects.Proven communication (oral and written), strong interpersonal, and presentation skills, with influencing and persuasive talents.Demonstrated experience with marking up and negotiating complex commercial contracts.Capable of explaining deviations to standard terms and conditions to the business on commercial matters to seek agreement or to create an alternative position.In depth knowledge of RFx development and execution, contraction preparation and contract management.Ability to monitor and manage supplier relationships and performance with minimal supervision.Experience with ERP systems for PO creation. Specifically, Oracle - R12 or Cloud.
