Position Summary The Field Engineer is a technical expert responsible for on-site quality assurance, complex system testing, and technical support during the execution phase of mission-critical power projects. This role serves as the critical liaison between the engineering office, equipment vendors, and field construction crews, ensuring strict compliance with design specifications. location: Sterling, Virginia job type: Permanent salary: $150,000 - 200,000 per year work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Develop and execute system test scripts based on schematics, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and logic diagrams to validate automation, protection, and interlock system performance. Support PLC and relay configuration and testing, including basic programming, upload/download, troubleshooting, and logic validation for SEL, ABB, and Siemens protection and control systems. Provide technical expertise across power system components, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear, CTs, PTs, metering, and protective relaying. Lead quality assurance activities with vendors, including coordination, submittal reviews, and on-site Factory Witness Testing (FAT) to ensure equipment meets all design-build specifications. Partner with field execution teams (foremen, QA/QC, superintendents) to support installation, testing, and commissioning of safety mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical interlock systems. Requirements 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, power systems, technical field support, or equipment commissioning, with hands-on medium-voltage systems exposure. Troubleshooting and problem-solving ability, with proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control/logic diagrams. Prior experience working for or closely with major power equipment manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Schneider) is strongly preferred. Travel and Location Travel: Ability to accommodate up to 75% travel nationwide to data center project sites. Location Preference: Dallas/Fort Worth, TX is the ideal location (central hub for efficient national travel).
