job summary: Our client is seeking an experienced Database Tech Lead to take full ownership of core data infrastructure, lead database architecture initiatives, and deliver end-to-end solutions spanning data pipelines, orchestration frameworks, and production systems. In this role, you'll ensure our data systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability to support ongoing growth. location: Atlanta, Georgia job type: Permanent salary: $115,000 - 120,000 per year work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Database Architecture & Design Architect, implement, and optimize scalable SQL-based databases, primarily focusing on AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL/MySQL). Utilize AWS services such as Aurora, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, and Redshift to build modern, cloud-native data platforms. Design database schemas optimized for performance, data consistency, and maintainability. ETL & Data Pipeline Management Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using AWS Glue and Apache Airflow. Ensure data quality, lineage, and consistency throughout ingestion, transformation, and export processes. Production Support & Operations Own the stability, reliability, and operational health of production databases and data flows. Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and restore processes, and failover strategies. Collaborate closely with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to implement observability, alerting, and automated recovery solutions. Proactively identify and implement improvements to boost performance and resilience across the data ecosystem. Continuous Improvement & Governance Drive enhancements in data governance for schema changes, migrations, and data access control. Evaluate and adopt new tools or frameworks that improve data system efficiency, scalability, and reliability. Promote strong accountability through improved testing, automation, and documentation practices in data engineering workflows. qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 3 years in a database leadership role. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in database and data engineering functions. Expertise in SQL development, query optimization, indexing, and transaction management. Deep understanding of data architecture concepts including high availability, replication, and disaster recovery in production systems.
