job summary: A Structural Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. A Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineer independently manages complex civil site development tasks within energy projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary efforts while ensuring compliance with standards and contributing to design, planning, and mentoring activities. location: Houston, Texas job type: Contract salary: $51.40 - 66.71 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Plans, schedules, and coordinates civil/structural design activities for oil, gas, and chemical projects.Uses 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., MicroStation, Smart3D) and standard engineering software.Prepares specifications, evaluates technical bids, and recommends subcontract awards.Coordinates engineering input across disciplines and with external stakeholders.May serve as technical lead for specific project tasks or subgroups.Mentors junior staff and contributes to performance evaluations.Drafts correspondence to vendors and clients regarding design issues.Reviews supplier and subcontractor civil site deliverables for compliance and accuracy.Prepares conceptual studies, reports, and design documentation.Supports a positive, collaborative team environment and promotes continuous improvement. Skills: strong knowledge of civil site development design: grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and stabilization systems.Familiar with relevant codes and standards (AASHTO, ACI, ASTM, PCA, etc.).Proficient with civil engineering software such as InRoads, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, CivilStorm.Knowledge of engineering constructability, construction methods, and economics.Familiarity with SmartPlant 3D is a plus.Skilled in project planning, communication, and multidisciplinary coordination.
