This position offers a unique chance to gain exposure to multiple lab functions, from instrumentation maintenance and sample analysis to large-scale lab management and 5S implementation. location: North Chicago, Illinois job type: Contract salary: $28.00 - 30.43 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors responsibilities: Perform daily lab upkeep and organization across multiple R&D and GMP areas, including waste management, glassware logistics, and safety equipment checks. Execute analytical testing on routine samples using specialized instrumentation such as HPLC/UHPLC and Karl Fischer titrators. Maintain and clean analytical instrumentation, including gas cylinder installation and system preparations, to ensure 100% uptime for the team. Generate precise, reproducible data and document all experimental results within electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) according to strict compliance standards. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including EHS, Stock Room, and Equipment Calibration, to ensure seamless laboratory support. Apply 5S methodology to optimize lab workflows, material receiving, and reagent organization. qualifications: Required Skills Education: BS/BA or Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology, or a related scientific field. Lab Experience: 0-2 years of hands-on experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting. Instrumentation: Proficiency with HPLC and Karl Fischer (KF) equipment. Compliance: Experience working within GMP or highly regulated R&D environments, including EHS training and safety awareness. Documentation: Strong technical writing skills for electronic notebooks and excellent verbal communication. Organization: High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Preferred Skills Prior experience specifically within the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with Chromatography Data Systems, specifically Empower. Experience with 5S implementation or lab management/upkeep tasks (waste, inventory, reagents).
