The ENG Client Development Manager (CDM) is a pivotal role responsible for driving client acquisition and expansion within key engineering verticals. This is achieved through a consultative, value-based sales approach, identifying, securing, and expanding new business opportunities with both existing and prospective clients.The CDM employs professional, consultative, and proactive sales strategies, leveraging referrals, social media, networking, and cold-calling. As a critical component of our "Split Desk" model, the CDM partners directly with their recruiting team to deliver specialized talent solutions across contract, direct-hire, and project-based offerings.

- Generate GP in personal production by selling segment orders within the market.
- Develop and implement effective sales plans to meet or exceed sales objectives for medium to large accounts.
- Develop and maintain client relationships while promoting the company’s position in the staffing industry through phone calls, client prospect meetings, and participation in networking events.
- Manage the sales process by building and maintaining a database of qualified contacts.
- Increase market share and revenue by acquiring new clients, expanding business within existing accounts, and retaining the current client base.
- Network to develop business and stay current on industry trends. Use social media to boost our brand, sharing engaging content to attract candidates. Participate in online communities to connect with talent.
- Make formal sales presentations and follow-up calls to create new business opportunities within targeted accounts.
- Negotiate staffing agreements, contracts, and addendums at existing accounts; includes negotiating pay rates for candidates and bill rates for clients.
- Identify and qualify potential prospects for new business development through various channels, including cold-calling, networking, social media, and referrals.
- Foster strategic alliances and collaborate with internal leaders and other LOBs for cross-selling opportunities.
- Stay informed of market demands, intelligence, and competitors, while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all organizational services.
- Maintain sales and service KPIs at defined standards.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required reports and activity tracking to achieve KPIs. - Meet revenue, gross margin, and other financial targets.
- Clearly communicate client expectations to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with clients to develop staffing strategies and solutions that align with both the company’s capabilities and current market trends.
- Gain a deep understanding of client's business to advise both clients and internal teams.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships and experiences to generate sales and expand business.
- Manage the job order fulfillment process, collaborating with the Talent Solutions Manager to align job requirements with talent needs.
- Stay informed and ensure compliance with client-specific rules, regulations, and onboarding procedures.
What you need to bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology or a related field highly preferred
- EIT, CMfgE, CEPC, PE Certification highly preferred
- 3-7 years of specialized sales experience in technical or engineering staffing with a proven record of consistently exceeding GP and revenue goals
- Expertise in CRM and sales process discipline (e.g., Bullhorn, Salesforce) for managing pipeline and forecasting
- Strong engineering or technical acumen—must understand client environments within sectors like EPC, Energy, and Advanced Manufacturing
- Proven resilience in overcoming rejection and maintaining a positive outlook
- Demonstrated success leveraging social media and online platforms for relationship building and lead generation
- Adept at effective negotiation to achieve mutually beneficial agreements, coupled with strong task prioritization and time management skills in a metrics-driven environment
- Solid grasp of technical competence, problem-solving, and ethical governing principles, including public safety and integrity. Key principles encompass the engineering design process (safety, functionality, sustainability), teamwork, communication, and continuous learning for solution development and refinement
- Possesses analytical problem-solving, effective communication, software proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, critical thinking, data analysis, and financial modeling expertise
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with recruiting teams and delivery leaders, ensuring high fill rates and exceptional client satisfaction
- Demonstrated capacity to aggressively open new accounts and strategically expand existing relationships within a competitive, performance-driven landscape
- Strong capabilities in solution selling and sophisticated negotiation across temporary, direct-hire, and complex project engagements
