A Shelton client is seeking a highly competent and meticulous Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join their tax team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns, with a primary focus on leveraging Vertex software for efficient compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations, a keen eye for detail, and a proven ability to manage complex tax processes. This position demands a professional who can operate with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

responsibilities:
- Prepare and file accurate multi-state sales and use tax returns within established deadlines.
- Utilize Vertex tax software for all aspects of sales and use tax compliance, including data input, return generation, and reporting.
- Perform thorough reconciliations of sales and use tax accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Support sales and use tax audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments to obtain required tax data and ensure seamless information flow.

- A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in sales and use tax filing.
- Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with Vertex tax software is very strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of multi-state sales and use tax laws and regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
