Tatum by Randstad is partnering with a prominent manufacturing company to find an experienced Interim Director of Finance for their Sauget, Illinois location. This is a crucial leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Finance. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the financial direction of the division, with a particular focus on the Annual Operating Plan, financial analysis for a potential manufacturing plant relocation, and managing standard costs.
Duration: Immediate Start to cover a leave of absence until early September.

About the Contract Role:
The Interim Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations within the division. This includes driving financial growth while maintaining strong internal controls. The role involves collaborating closely with the leadership team to enhance revenue and profitability, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain overall financial compliance. This position will directly manage a team of approximately 3 full-time employees within the Finance and Accounting department.

responsibilities:
- Annual Operating Plan (AOP) & Forecasting: You will lead the annual forecasting and budgeting processes, identifying business opportunities through detailed variance analysis and management reporting. A key part of this will be developing operating, capital, and cash flow budgets and forecasts that support the consolidated financials and aim for business improvement.
- Business Case Analysis (Manufacturing Plant Relocation): A significant responsibility will be to provide critical financial leadership and analysis for strategic initiatives, including evaluating a potential move of a manufacturing plant from Kentucky to Illinois. This involves developing comprehensive business cases, performing financial modeling, and conducting scenario planning to support informed decision-making.
- Standard Cost Ownership: You will be the owner of the standard cost methodology. This includes working with the Plant Accounting Manager and General Manager to regularly assess and improve cost competitiveness to attract customers. Ensuring accurate inventory statements is also part of this responsibility.
- Financial Leadership & Compliance: Direct the overall strategy for financial growth while ensuring controls are in place.
- Oversee period-end closings, making sure all related tasks are completed accurately and on time, in line with corporate deadlines.
- Ensure the accuracy and compliance of accounting, including proper reserve calculations, accurate accruals, and proper statement of inventories.
- Prepare and review financial performance reports, providing insights and challenging the organization when performance gaps are identified.
- Promote a strong controls mindset, aligning policies and procedures, and evaluating internal controls to recommend necessary changes.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and work with operational partners to understand and improve manufacturing performance.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a CPA, CMA, or MBA is preferred.
- 7-10 years of diverse finance experience, encompassing Financial Planning & Analytics (FP&A) and Accounting, with progressively senior roles such as Finance Director, Finance Manager, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
- Experience with job costing in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Strong proficiency with financial systems and software (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Oracle) is required, and advanced Excel skills are critical. Experience with ERP software and business intelligence tools like Workday and Power BI is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed, with experience in creating and presenting reports for senior leadership and effectively interacting with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills are crucial, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy when managing large datasets.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities are vital, along with the capacity to identify challenges, develop solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
